College on Demand Library Materials Requests
Requests for books from the General Collection:
- Only books that normally may be borrowed by students to take out of the Library may be
requested for delivery. Reserve items, Media materials, Reference Materials, and issues of
periodicals cannot be sent to COD students.
- Students must supply complete title, author and call number information for each individual
item. If you need help in determining what is available, contact the Distance Learning Reference

- Normal borrowing limits for students apply to the number of requests. Students have a limit
of 8 general collection items borrowed at any one time. The items will be have a loan period of
28 days, with one renewal possible of a further 14 days.
- Materials will only be sent to students residing outside of Washtenaw County.
- Materials will be sent via Second Day Delivery service. Materials will ONLY be sent to the
address that the student has supplied to the Washtenaw Community College Registration and Records
system. If for some reason this is impossible, the student must call the Director of Access
Services and gain permission before the items will be sent. Email Bethany Kennedy at

- Returned items will be checked in as of the postmark date on the return package.
- All normal overdue fines will apply to items borrowed via Materials Delivery. Long overdue items
will be billed as lost, for the replacement cost of each item plus a $10.00 processing fee. The
College will retain $17.00 per item for items billed as lost but later returned. Library bills
over $5.00 will put a student's record on hold for registration, grades and transcripts until
the bill is paid in full. Library bills over $25.00 will be sent to a collection agency after 45
days.

Requests for copies of articles from periodicals which are only available in print form in the
Bailey Library collection:
- Make sure that the article you want is not available digitally in the WCC Research Databases.

- If the article is available only in the print collection of the Bailey Library, the Library will
deliver it digitally via a PDF emailed to the student's email address.
- Requests must be made in the form of complete citations.
- All requests must conform to the requirements of U.S. Copyright laws and fair use guidelines.

Bailey Library reserves the right to refuse requests that, in our judgment, violate copyright law.
- There is no limit on the number of requests; however, numerous requests at one time may take
extra time to process. In general, articles will be delivered digitally within 3 business days.
